If you don’t like to read, don’t have time for it, or simply don’t like my writing style, maybe you’ll still like some of my photos 🙂 At the moment they’re divided into three self-explanatory categories: past travels, the long-term travel process, and experiments.
Please note that i share these photos here in higher resolution than the photos on my blog posts, so they may also take a little longer to load.

Brasília, DF – Brazil, Spring ’18
“Working (after) hours” (Brasília, 2018) Street vendor selling popcorn at Esplanada dos Ministérios (the headquarters of all three branches of the Brazilian government). I see a sobering display of lower class entrepreneurship where most of the middle class is sweetly employed by the government.
“Made up rules” (Brasília, 2018) It’s been tested somewhere (can’t find it) — put an orange cone somewhere, and most people will duly avoid it. Even those who with enough power seem to have the power to have the cones removed rather than running over it.
“One of many shades of gray” (Brasília, 2018) Most residents of Brasília live in 3 to 6-store buildings reminiscent of khrushchyovkas — perhaps with a bit more flair — the problem to insulate the apartments from the 100 consecutive days of direct sun the city gets every year gave the architects something to play with!
“Future of the past” (Brasília, 2018) I tell most people who ask me that Brasília is a fascinating urban experiment that unfortunately got many of its predictions about the future catastrophically wrong — if only people were to use the city the way it was designed to be used! It all looks great though.
“House arrest” (Brasília, 2018) This is the view from the house where i grew up, in the suburbs of Brasília. I don’t know who raised the first of the fences, or who will be the first one to take them down. They weren’t there when i was a child — are they meant to protect us from the thugs, or to protect the thugs from us?
Three of these photos were selected for display at the “Community Hall” of Stryi (Стрийський Народний Дім), as part of the “World in the eyes of Stryi residents” exhibit organized by the Ridnya “Communities’ Fund” (Фонд громад “Рідня”) in November ’18.
The Long-Term Travel Process
In these photos i attempt to capture and communicate some elements of my long-term, overland, budget travel process by bicycle or hitchhiking.
Hitchhiking
hitchhiking out of Zhovkva – Ukraine (February ’19)
hitchhiking out of Lublin on our way back home — better start early (Lublin – Poland, February ’19)
truckers are usually the best, and rest stops great places to hitchhike from — for understandable reasons most of them won’t take more than one passenger within the EU though (Bełżec – Poland, February ’19)
our ride from Bełżec to Lublin — two Ukrainians who live in Warsaw (Poland, February ’19)
Cycle Touring

Photography is something relatively new to me. I’m learning something every day from various online courses, tutorials and mailing lists, my own playing with the camera, and feedback. I’d love to hear your impressions as well — whether you’re a professional photographer or know nothing whatsoever about photography, i’d appreciate if you could tell me in the comments below what you see in my photos and/or how you believe i could make them look and feel better 🙂
